Watercolourfield – Acrylic Art

Limited Edition Face-mounted Acrylic Art
Limited Edition of 25
Bolivia, 2017
Aspect Ratio: 3:2 (Original Crop)

Guinevere Joy’s acrylic pieces are available as limited edition art, up to a maximum of 25 editions, making it an exclusive and valuable product. Acrylic Art is a high quality product that seals the image under a layer of clear, UV protective acrylic resin. The layer of acrylic, as well as the archival quality metallic paper, adds depth and dimension to the fine details in this piece. The result is an almost holographic rendition of the art. Metallic paper is the most beautiful choice of paper that can be paired with acrylic face-mounting. This piece of art comes finished and ready to hang, however if you would like to add framing we can do that for you.
Adventures in Bolivian Salt Flats
Each image has a story of its own. I spent four days in the Salar de Uyuni (a vast salt flat located in Bolivia). The first day was spent driving deep into the salt flats. My clothes immediately became covered with salt, my tripod bravely withstood the salinity of the environment. A rain storm approached, and I took the opportunity as a blessing, as rainy weather often creates more interesting images than perfect sunny days.
I loved being in the Salar de Uyuni, it was quiet and unlike any other place on earth. During the day, the colours were surreal and dreamlike. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, and I worked hard and maintained focus to capture the beauty of this place.
I titled this piece Watercolourfield because it was taken after my mother, who is a brilliant artist, had introduced me to the concept of colourfield abstract painting, especially those by Mark Rothko. This is my version of a colourfield. Colourfields are abstract paintings that use colours in various hues, shades, and tones to create a harmonious piece. Colourfields resonate with me, as they are a means of expression that is different from form: colours reach our hearts in a universal language. I titled this piece Watercolourfield because the rain clouds created a watercolour landscape. I absolutely love how the rain clouds seem to be painted with God’s watercolour brush. The soft, watery aspect of rain falling in distant clouds is one of the most beautiful sights to behold.
