Limited Edition Fine Art Print
Bolivia, 2017
Aspect Ratio: 3:2 (Original Crop)

Fine Art Prints are a more affordable way for you to enjoy my art. They are Giclée prints (pronounced zhee-clay), a printing process that uses pigment-based inks used for fine art printing. The paper they are printed on is metallic acid free paper, which is considered archival quality. The artwork will be mailed to you in a shipping tube, where you can take it to a framer to have it framed. I recommend anti-reflective glass for you to get the most enjoyment out of your art.
Adventures in Bolivian Salt Flats
Each image has a story of its own. I spent four days in the Salar de Uyuni (a vast salt flat located in Bolivia). My clothes immediately became covered with salt, my tripod bravely withstood the salinity of the environment. I was lucky to be caught in a torrential storm which caused my guide and I to take shelter on the only structure to be found in the great vastness of the salt flats. I do not say this sardonically, the images captured both before and during the storm would make fair-weather images pale by comparison.
The Salar de Uyuni was perfectly quiet. We had stayed with friends of my guide on Cactus Island due to the torrential rainstorm the night before. My guide didn’t think that we would be able to safely return to the dust-spec-on-the-map of Uyuni. In a way this was fortuitous, because it meant that I was already on location for sunrise, normally not possible when travelling to this place.
My guide woke me just before the sun came up. We had only slept a few hours due to the inclement weather and needing to find shelter. We went quickly to the SUV, and he drove me to a spot where the sky was open. It was a quiet, perfect moment. When we were in the SUV driving to the location, he played a song for me, Tabacco y Chanel, that will forever be ingrained in my memory of that moment, along with the sky, the colours, and the uplifting feeling in my heart of capturing this moment with my camera.
As the sun rose quietly, the colours began to emerge from the darkness. There were still a few remaining stars, pinpricks in the indigo sky. If we had left any later, we would have missed it. The clouds and their reflection formed a perfect image of a butterfly. How lucky I felt to capture this moment. I hope this image expresses the feeling I felt in the early morning dusk on the Salar de Uyuni.
